Hey peeps, lately I’ve been working on expanding my portfolio to include seasonal collections. Starting with my decision to make three Valentine’s Day Patterns. Focusing on a handful of designs with what I consider to be popular Valentine’s day motifs. Strawberries, candy, and roses.
Why am I doing this? Well a lot of businesses launch themed packaging throughout the year. It’s an excellent way to add a little variety and fun to your brand without compromising on brand awareness through limited releases.
It could be as simple as changing the tissue paper you use to include candy hearts motifs, or wrapping Valentine’s bouquets in craft paper printed with illustrated roses.
The possibilities are endless.
What I’m trying to say is that by creating these patterns I’m giving business owners an idea of how hiring me or leasing my illustrations can help them make unique experiences for their customers.
Introducing my Valentine’s Day Patterns
Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

In the past few weeks I’ve noticed more and more bakeries around Edmonton offering chocolate covered strawberries for Valentine’s day. When I was brainstorming what to illustrate, chocolate strawberries was one of the first things to come to mind.
Picture it, you buy a box of a half dozen chocolate covered strawberries from your favourite bakery, when you open the box instead of seeing the plain white interior your used to there is this cute pattern decorating the inside of the box.

It’s subtle but noticeably different from the norm. Those moments go a long way to make a limited product memorable.
Candy Hearts

Growing up these weren’t my favourite candies that showed up around Valentine’s day. However when February rolls around these are the candies I feel the most nostalgic for and that’s why they’ve shown up in this collection.

Imagine opening a box of candies from a local shop to find this playful pattern on the tissue holding your sweet treats together.
For my eagle eyed friends, yes, this pattern did make its debut on my Candy Hearts Sticker Sheets as the backdrop.
Roses for Valentine’s Day Pattern Groundbreaking

I know… groundbreaking. Admit it roses are probably the first thing you think about when it comes to Valentine’s day. Right? They’re presented in almost everything considered remotely romantic and If i’m being honest I just wanted an excuse to draw even more flowers.
Maybe you launched a limited run fragrance for the month of February that prominently features roses. The label on the candle is adorned with a variety of illustrated roses.

The possibilities with custom surface patterns are truly endless. With that said commissions and leasing inquiries can be sent to justinericksonart@gmail.com. I hope you enjoyed this little collection.
Stay creative out there peeps,
Justin
