This month I’m going to talk about logo design. Why it’s important, what to expect, and why it is crucial to avoid services like fiverr. So without further delay let’s get started.
Why Do I Need A Logo?
The purpose of a logo is to connect individuals to your brand.
Without a logo you’re missing a crucial component that makes your business identifiable.
Without a logo you can’t build strong brand loyalty, or recognition.
The logo is usually the first thing a client will see and experience with your business. Because of that, your logo is one of the single most important branding investments you can make for the business.
What Makes a Great Logo?
In my experience It needs a few things to make it great.
It needs to be unique, it needs adaptability, and it needs to be simple.
Creating something unique sounds more challenging than it actually is. Don’t get caught up in this idea that your logo must relate to what you sell or do. It can, but it shouldn’t be your focus. What if down the road you decide to sell more than one product or service? Avoid making your logo similar to your competitions. You may sell a similar product or service, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t step out of the box. You know?
Don’t blend in. You want your logo to create a conversation.
In order to be adaptable, your logo should be easy to read on a light or dark background. It also needs to translate well between digital and physical collateral. Consistency is key.
Try to avoid dated fads like drop shadows, or an obnoxious overuse of gradients. Try to think back to the nineties and the early 2000s. Remember those big blocky letters? Or the use of 8 gradients in one word? Thats what you want to avoid!
Most importantly keep it simple. The more ideas you try to cram into your logo the less likely it will attract attention.
This is actually my favourite part of the logo design process.
I like to create a few dozen thumbnails depicting your ideas, as well as some of my own. It is one of the fastest ways to weed out what you don’t want, and what you do want.
It requires a little back and forth but in the long run it produces better results.
There’s something exciting about seeing the logo go from a sketch, to concept, to completion.
What is Vector Format
This is an extremely important factor when it comes to your logo.
In simple terms when something is in a vector format it allows you to resize the image to any resolution without losing clarity. So you could have your logo printed on a receipt, or a billboard and it still looks the same.
Do Graphic Designers Make Logos?
Absolutely they do!
The best way to find out is to ask.
Most designers have experience making logos, some of us specialize in it. Check their portfolio. Look up the businesses they’ve worked for.
Why Should You Hire A Professional Designer?
Honestly. You’ll get professional results.
Unlike Fiverr, you won’t need to worry about bidding wars, or getting a subpar result because the artists aren’t compensated properly.
Most of us have gone to school for multiple years studying marketing and design. We will take the time to research your demographic, the market, the niche you’re trying to fill and give you a different perspective. AND! you get to deal with us directly. It’s our job to build a relationship with you. We want to see you succeed because our names going to be on the work too.
